Box 8477, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8477 _Don't let the Turnpike take southwestern Pennsylvania for a ride!_ /Courtesy of PennFuture/ -- Our region's transportation and planning organization, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC), is poised to make a decision about whether to accept a new Turnpike expansion plan, and to formally add the Southern Beltway boondoggle into the region's transportation funding plan. The Turnpike wants to pay for it by raising tolls throughout the Turnpike's mainline. The Turnpike expansion projects are in direct conflict with our region's long-range plan, which calls for a fix-it-first policy that also encourages infill development and re-investment in brownfields and existing business districts. Ask your legislators to put the brakes on the Turnpike's expansion projects, and continue to focus on making our existing roads and bridges safer and more efficient.
