I myself feel the rebranding of 2.x has been long overdue. And it will open up 
all new possibilities for it.

The fact that 2.x shares absolutely no code with GL1.x makes the rebranding 
much easier. And also allows for GL1.x to progress toward it's *own* 2.x 
release.
