Andrew,
It's great that you're interested in contributing, we can always use
the help. The best way to get started in Geeklog development is to
pick a feature request
(http://project.geeklog.net/tracker/?atid=108&group_id=6&func=browse)
or a bug report
(http://project.geeklog.net/tracker/?atid=105&group_id=6&func=browse)
from our tracker and just dive right in. (Alternatively you can
choose something that is pet project or pet peeve.) If you then
submit a patch via the patch tracker or just email a diff against the
current cvs to the geeklog-devtalk mailing list Dirk will add it in.
Of course, if you have any questions or run into any problems during
development you're encouraged to mail them to the list here or start a
forum thread. We'll usually get back to you pretty quick.
Hopefully, that should get you started. Also, if you're interested in
GL2 development you should contact Tony Bibbs.
