There was the concept of 'expanded search results' in the work from
Marc. I took that out because I wanted to get the highlighting working
first (last I knew I thought a few minor bugs related to highlighting
existed). Adding expanded search would also require notice to plugin
developers as it would require them to add code if they want to utilize
that feature.

Also, for performance reasons, I'd recommend any expanded searches (when
implemented) to be turned off by default.

I might have that somewhere. Though I thought it had been checked into
cvs a while ago as an option in the config file, something like
advancedsearchformatting

Ahh, I bet it has to do with my template file, I think I may be missing
a variable which carries the expanded results. Thanks for the tip.

Well so much for that. I was hoping I had improperly updated set of
thtmls but they are identical. I also have this in CVS:
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
// Indicates if we should expand search results or not.
// true = show title with summary
// false = title date author hits on one line
$_CONF['expanded_search_results'] = true;
// 0: use users max stories per page
// 1: Show all
// any other number is the # of results per page
$_CONF['max_search_results'] = 1;
// maximum length for the summary text for search results should be
$_CONF['summary_length'] = 250;
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
... but I don't get any expanded results at all.
Here's a link to see for yourself:

query=Management&type=all&mode=search
