Got some members with good ideas. Read this:

http://www.iowaoutdoors.org/forum/viewtopic.php?forum=14&showtopic=74690

To paraphrase, they would like to have the number of forum posts shown
in the centerblock be configurable per user. That along with the
ability to chang the max stories would give the users a great amount of
flexibility to change the content of the homepage from focusing on
stories to forum posts instead.

This is what I posted.

There is a "View last forum post" icon. If you are logged in and you click
on the forum link, the "paper" icon is the one you want. It's the left
icon on the right side of the page.

You might know this but to be clear,

They want to be able to control how many of the 'latest posts' shows up
in the center block on the homepage without having to dig into the forum
section of the site.

I'm amazed at how many features of GL are in the system and some of the
user's simply don't use them because they don't know they exist.

Yes, I knew what they wanted. :) The one guy wanted to see forum messages
that were active. What I posted was the easiest way for now. If you want
to make it clearer to them, change the icons to readable text. :).

Time to hit the frozen water.
