I think you'll be able to build this on top of the current code, but
not as a plugin.  This will definitely be a hack and you'll probably
have to maintain it yourself between versions of Geeklog (which can be
a real PITA).

It will require a lot of work though.  I see the need for at least
one, and possibly several, new DB tables along with some pretty
intricate code.

If you decided to undertake this, I wish you the best luck.  You can
always send any questions you have during development to the list here
and usually get [relatively] prompt answers.
