Any success?
My experiments seem to indicate that Google doesn't differentiate between
302 and 303. The Googlebot received 303s now for all the links on the
site and still doesn't treat them differently than with the 302.
In other words, Google still displays my URL but the other site's content
in the search results.
And, yes, I'm sure that the search results have been updated, as the
cached version of the page carries the note:
| This is Google's cache of ... as retrieved on 12 Sep 2004 02:21:05 GMT.
At the exact same second, Googlebot got a 303 for the link to that page,
according to my webserver's logfiles.
I'm switching to 301s now to see if that makes a difference. The option
of excluding portal.php in a robots.txt more and more looks like the way
to go, though.

The link in question currently is in the #1 spot ...
bye, Dirk
