I'm not sure I understand the question.  If you arguing against using 
oo-php then I'd just assume stop the conversation there as that sounds 
like it might become a religious war on a topic that, frankly, the Gl2 
developers have already agreed on.

Besides, I don't think you can get much more 'modular' than objects.
