I have the following set up:
group cs101, nothing selected
group students, nothing selected
lecturer1, in group cs101
student1, in group cs101 and students
topic compsci101, owned by lecturer1, group cs101, permissions re, r,
-, -.
topic students, owned by Admin, group students, permissions re, r, -, -
This creates the behaviour that the student can only see the compsci101
topic if they're a member of the cs101 group.
What effect does the "e" have? I can't see any difference between
lecturer1 and student1.
Next problem is that if a student is in cs101, and students... then if
I give them any extra privileges in students (eg, topic.submit), then
they also get them in cs101. How do I limit privileges to the
associated topic area?
I've tried using the "e" permission but I can't see what this does.
This means that making the topic owned by the lecturer has no effect
that I can see.
Basically, all the problems stem from each topic needing to be as much
like an independant weblog as possible. The permission system comes so
close, but the global nature of the permissions make it so far...
Any help would be appreciated. I need to get this going by next week so
it looks like it'll be a busy weekend for me...
