From liveeffects at onlineeffects.com Sun Nov 18 13:29:34 2007 From: liveeffects at onlineeffects.com (Live Effects) Date: Sun, 18 Nov 2007 10:29:34 -0800 Subject: [LiveEffects] Beyond the Veil Game 3 Message-ID: <000301c82a10$f8715780$e9540680$@net> The Orange County Chapter - Beyond The Veil, is running the following in January! Beyond the Veil Game 3 - Crystal Shards Location: Malibu Creek State Park Date: Friday, January 18th to Sunday, January 20th Time: Game begins at 7:00PM on Friday, ends at approximately noon on Sunday PC Game Fee: $50* ************This game is cheaper than a normal Live Effects event because food will not be provided by game staff. I highly encourage the players to organize "potluck" style meals. *************** NPC Game Fee: $10 Contact Beyond the Veil Plot if you want to NPC. Preparation: We're camping in January, and that means the game site is going to be extremely cold. Please, please, please bring warm clothing and anything else you might need. I will check and post the seasonal rules for fire at the campsite as we get closer to the game date. Lore: A brave group of adventurers recently managed to fight their way through the Citadel of M on the Plane of Ruin to rescue a strange girl named Asphodel. Sent by the Fey, the adventurers still have not discovered exactly what made Asphodel so significant. After the girl's rescue and defeating the Priest of M, as well as many of his "perfected" minions, the adventurers returned to the relative safety of the Wyrd of Avalon. While Salaris and Siyona escort Asphodel to her home, the group finds something unusual - a stone carried by Asphodel seems to react to something in the distance, not far from the girl's homeland. Intrigued, Siyona and Salaris send out a summons for adventurers who might be interested in investigating whatever magic might be calling to Asphodel's stone. More information will be provided at a later time. You may find some clues on the Live Effects forums or through other means. Rules:We will be using the Live Effects 2.0 rules with some changes. More information on these changes will be posted as soon as possible. We will be playtesting some alternate mechanics during this event. Post questions on the Live Effects forums or contact veil at onlineeffects.com for more information. You can also send a PM to Salaris on the Effects forums. December 8th Event - Stars at Noon. Ends at 6:30. NPCs welcome starting at 7:00 AM. PCs see teams listings below. December 8th Dinner - 8:30 at the Melting Pot in Irvine, only those who have pre-paid for the dinner should attend. The dinner is not a costumed or in character activity. Event Locations All game events will take place in the Humanities Hall at the University of California Irvine. This is building 601 on the map link here: http://www.uci.edu/campusmaps.shtml To get to the humanities hall follow campus to west peltason, turn in to the campus and follow until you reach Mesa, turn left on Mesa and you will be lead in to a parking lot. Park in any unmarked space. Park in parking lot 7, it is the closest. A parking pass is required. Refer to the map link above for how to reach the building. Getting a parking pass Passes are $7 per day. The easiest way to get one is to go to the parking lot on Mesa. Instead of turning left to reach the parking lot, turn right. You will notice a parking garage there. Simply buy a day pass and leave the lot, then park in lot 7. Once at the building Once you arrive at the building please wait outside on the second floor balcony. You will probably see others there waiting as well. We will come for you. If you need directions on how to reach UCI refer to the following link: http://www.uci.edu/campusmaps.shtml Melting Pot Location & Details 2646 Dupont Drive Irvine, CA 92612 (949) 955-3242 This is the meeting place for the annual dinner at 8:30PM on Saturday the 8th. Only prepaid dinner attendees should come. This is not a costumed in character event, people are encouraged to wear normal clothes and dress up if they desire. (I'm wearing a suit). It's the annual gathering, show some finery. J If you need a place to change simply contact plot at onlineeffects.com and we'll arrange a local place for you to do such things before the dinner. Need a place to stay? If you need a place to crash for the night please let me know. Lost? Call local UCI Experts Fei - 510-378-2096 or Keri - 701-527-6952 Please do not call Ira unless it is an emergency. Friday Event Details The Saturday event is a simple low key game designed to just relax, solve a few puzzles and chat with people. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PLAY YOUR EXISTING CHARACTERS. You can play the game as yourself if you desire, it's simply for fun. The game itself is Arcade Style, which means that as you and your team go through. if you fail in a task or do something wrong you will die instantly and be sent back to start. This game will be run low key, similar to a bar game designed for role-play and interacting between players. The entire game takes place in a dream world, so even if you bring your characters in it. the events didn't really happen. No treasure is given this day play this game for the raw challenge of it. Ira will be your GM through the entire night and will be killing everyone with vigor, we hope to see you there! The game will take place in the Humanities Hall, 2nd floor. At UCI, at 5:00. We will probably do a dinner gathering for those interested after, I'm thinking Claim Jumper but it will be an unofficial thing. Due to many holiday parties in the area it is understood that many people can not make this friday, if that is the case and you are owed tags or items email plot directly and we will arrange to process things for you outside of this game. This is also the perfect evening to handle anything you have outstanding with plot. Saturday Event Details Trouble in Alassiel is an indoor event held at Humanities Hall at UCI. This is a 4 to 5 hour linear style event. We are still going over lighting details and design issues, but we promise a unique and memorable experience. Players are expected to arrive on time with their teams. If you arrive late we may start without you and if late you may not be able to join the game. If you are curious about what has been happening in Alassiel one can simply look to the forums for ideas: http://www.onlineeffects.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=30 &t=542 If you want to learn more about what is occurring join in and investigate the issues yourself. J This game is a different experience than what many players have had with Live Effects, as a result players and characters are consistently aware they may walk away and go 'game time down' at any time with no repercussions. You can always leave the event unharmed. No one under 18 may attend this event. For those who like to research. this is the perfect game to perform research on. Team Listing and Times Please aim to arrive 15 minutes early to handle sign in and such. Team 1 - Ira GM 12:00 Jared Miniver Rubio Penny Izmet Gana Merc (Katt) Kareen Davis Team 2 - Fei GM 12:30 Syllrae Constance Reginald Raven Olaf Bint Cyrus Hannah Team 3 - Benj GM 1:00 Andrew Rowe Daniel Polcari Cassidy Cording Carly Thomas Andrew Bice Alex Arjad Andrew Warren (Ishy) NPCs and Arrival We definitely need people to help us setup at the event. All of those involved are encouraged to show up at 7:00 to help with the initial setup and prep. Just walk in to the building until you find us. we'll be somewhere. Core staff will be on site starting at 6:00AM. All NPCs should be on site no later than 11:30 . We need to get everyone in their places and everything prepped by then. Also. The December dinner is now completely full. NPCs are welcome to help us at the game and be (extremely) entertained, contact plot for details. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: <001201c83c57$9a726a30$cf573e90$@net> Thank you, When this all started, it was a concept that I did not expect would form in to the world we have now. It was merely something I used to heal and grow towards my own personal experiences in terms of live action role play. But it has grown, and blossomed in to something much more. The reason for that growth has nothing to do with me, but with you. Thank you for all of your support and contribution to Live Effects over the past year. Live Effects would be nothing without its players and staff. I believe that this has been a successful and enjoyable endeavor and I am looking forward to the many years of Live Effects games and functions. Each and every player is important to the development and growth of Live Effects and it is you who add to the unique and fantastic nature of our games. Your opinions and ideas matter and any little thing that you have done or contributed to Live Effects is greatly appreciated. We have a wonderful community of friends that is growing and it is all thanks to you for helping the game to be fun for everyone. Thank you again for your patronage and support this year. Message-ID: <003201c84329$88ada2a0$9a08e7e0$@net> Happy Holidays! Whether you eat Steak, Ham, or Turducken this holiday we wish you a happy one. Fighter practice Saturday 22nd! Huntington Central Park, Library side, starting at noon and ending when we run out of light or energy. I think we'll be running out of light first. We will be testing out the new 2.02 rules for The Wyrd of Avilion, playing Ork Ball, and swinging foam. Skill point concerns? All points must be accounted for in the online system before 2008. If you find a discrepancy in 2008 for 2007 events it will not be corrected. Get online and in the system and take a look. If you are confused ask questions. Those without a character sheet in the online system will be ineligible for any special requests, spells, recipes, titles, or similar, as all this information is stored in the online system. The February Mansion Event We have a few spots left for the February event. If you are interested in attending, buy a ticket here: http://www.onlineeffects.net/shop/catalog/index.php?cPath=41 If you wish to make alternative payment arrangements email plot. Price Changes There will be a price increase for standard Live Effects Games come 2008. This is to make it so there is less personal loss involved in running the games and events. Certain items have never been in the Live Effects budget, such as these forums, and they obviously should be. To that end the new pricing breakdown is as follows (just a $10 increase). NPC Fee: $10 PC Fees Day Games: $20 Normal Weekend Events: $60 if you pre-reg 60 days in advance $80 if you pre-reg 30 days in advance $100 on site Specialty event pricing, and people who have already registered for future games are considered to have already paid in full. I'm sorry, but I really have no choice but to do this if I am to continue to run the games, the personal cost is to much for me. On a positive note we're now offering ticket transfers. This means if you pay for an event at the $80 price, and can't attend, we'll shift your ticket to another event of equal or lesser value. This also means you can buy a gift certificate for someone and freely use it for an event. :) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
