Ken Caylor, the 9th LD Chair, sent the following message about the Legislative District Caucus: The 9th LD caucuses will be held in conjunction with the county convention April 19. Each of the 6 counties will have their separate conventions and Spokane & Franklin counties will breakout the 9th LD delegates and elect their portion of delegates to the perspective Congressional District and State Convention for election to the national Convention. Again, the Whitman County Democrats Convention April 19th will be electing Delegates in place of a Legislative District Caucus. The Nominating Convention will be held on Wednesday May 14th immediately following the Whitman County Democrats meeting at the Holiday Inn Express in Pullman. This year is very exciting and with your help the Whitman County Democrats can win races up and down the ticket. As the spring and summer progresses we will need volunteers for the following tasks: yard sign distribution and maintenance door knocking phone calling staffing booths at events marching in parades (Johnson Parade July 4, Lentil Festival Parade August 23 and others) fundraising and much more If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Carolyn Cress at ccress at whitmandemocrats.org or (509) 334-0999. In Pullman: 131, 132, 133, (precincts among the dorms of WSU) In Colfax: 136, 137, 140, 141 Steptoe, Uniontown, Wilcox, Dusty, Hay, Hooper, Lamont You do not have to be a member of a precinct to be appointed as PCO to a precinct, although it is preferable. Why do we need PCOs? An important part of the Party system, the PCOs are the representatives who can vote for certain things. This year, because of the primary system that we'll be using this summer, it is important that Democratic candidates can be identified as nominated by the Democrats of Whitman County, the 9th Legislative District, and the 5th Congressional District. Only PCOs can vote at these meetings. As the summer goes by and campaign season is in full swing, the PCOs are like the neighborhood leaders, a contact person (particularly in the rural towns). After the November election, the PCOs elect the new Whitman County officers. Please consider volunteering your time in this way. I need to have this list to the State Party on Monday, so a response is needed soon. (The State is getting together the lists for the various meetings.)
