June 17, 2009 In Attendance: Crystal Ainardi, Barbara Caylor, Ken Caylor, Carolyn Cress, Dave Gibney, Richard Law, Rollie Line, Eileen Macoll, Lenna McCloskey, Don Orlich, Pat Orlich, Matt Root, Michael Yount The meeting was called to order by Crystal Ainardi at 7:30 pm. The minutes were read by Carolyn Cress, substituting for Peggy Ray, and approved by the attendees. Carolyn Cress read a letter from Eleanor Newton from Graham, Washington concerning the health of her husband Tyre, who is now in hospice care. The Newtons were active members of the Whitman Co. Democrats when they were members of the Pullman Community. Carolyn will send a note from our group. Tyre and Eleanor Newton 9915 196th St. East Graham, Wa. 98338 Crystal Ainardi suggested that we get a newsletter ready to include events and new officer profiles. Events: June 26 noon to two?..making phone calls to congress June 27 ?.food drive and health care info at Reaney Park Matt Root donated $100 for the event (food, advertising) Dave Gibney for Pullman City Council Campaign. Eileen Macoll outlined campaign Crystal Ainardi will provide tech help Dave Gibney requested support from the WCDs, talked about the main issues confronting the city of Pullman. Rollie Line, Don Orlich, and Michael Yount added to the discussion. The WCDs will recommend that Democrats vote for Dave Gibney for Pullman City Council. After discussion, Matthew Root moved that we donate $250 to kick off Dave?s campaign. Second: Rollie Line; unanimous approval by those attending. The Gibney Campaign needs a treasurer. *www.davegibney.org* Ken Caylor, as Chair of the 9th LD, spoke about the candidacy of Glenn Stockwell of Ritzville, who has decided to run as a Democrat in the race for the 9th LD seat. Glenn will not receive the backing of the Democrats in the 9th. The Whitman County Democrats will also disavow any support for Mr. Stockwell. Crystal Ainardi and Michael Yount will arrange for Michael to be the only one to have regional access to Vote Builder to ensure that Mr. Stockwell does not get access information contained in Vote Builder. The 9th LD will hold a meeting in Spokane on July 11 to discuss the Stockwell situation and to elect a new Vice-Chair.
