I'd suggest you start by getting Geeklog itself up and running (if you
haven't already), as outlined here:

And then familiarize yourself with the Spam-X plugin. There are two
links ("Further Reading") at the end of the project page that should
give you an idea how spam filtering works in Geeklog.

There are also some Spam-X-specific issues on our bugtracker if you'd
